PHILADELPHIA, PA— The Jefferson Recreational Fitness Center pool, once the crown jewel of the center city campus, has been closed for several years, with university officials citing “policy changes” and disrepair. One student anonymously reported, “the pool was my main reason for choosing Jefferson; when I arrived and found out it was closed, I was so disappointed. I should have gone to the better Philly school; it has two pools!”

Faculty previously assured students that the pool would be open by Spring 2024 after a series of upgrades and renovations. However, some students are becoming skeptical of empty promises. In the meantime, administrators have recommended the otter fountain in Lubert Plaza as an alternative for students who want to swim and relax. The fountain features several bronze otters, depicting a playful scene in the water.

Our campus fitness correspondent stopped junior Amy Lee on her way to take a dip in the fountain: “It’s ridiculous; how are we supposed to swim in a fountain? Its barely deep enough to cover our ankles.” Upon arrival, students found the fountain dry. Investigative reporters soon learned that the fountain had been drained for maintenance, not unlike the beloved pool.
